The AVERT project has partnered with the Alaska Volcano Observatory to conduct fieldwork in the remote Aleutian islands of Umnak and the Islands of Four Mountains.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory is a joint program of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAFGI), and the State of Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (ADGGS). AVO was formed in 1988, and uses federal, state, and university resources to monitor and study Alaska's hazardous volcanoes, to predict and record eruptive activity, and to mitigate volcanic hazards to life and property.

The AVERT project has partnered with the Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (OVSICORI) to deploy a second generation of our platform at Poás volcano, Costa Rica.

OVSICORI is an interdisciplinary research institute of the Universidad Nacional Costa Rica. Its mission is seismic and volcanic surveillance to document, analyze and interpret volcanic processes and disseminate that knowledge to contribute to society in risk prevention and mitigation of the disasters they generate.
