Okmok volcano
Okmok volcano is a large, caldera-forming volcano in the Aleutians. This closed system exhibits cycles of deformation—inflation and deflation—that are tracked using GNSS instruments deployed across the island. New seismic, geodetic, and magnetic instruments have bolstered the existing network of instruments operated by AVO, improving their ability to monitor changing activity levels within the volcano. In addition to these more traditional instruments, novel soil probes have also been deployed to track shallow surface temperatures and CO2 degassing.
